Beef Cattle

Beef Cattle

At Hidden Valley Farm, cattle are raised through all stages of life. A large herd of well maintained, quality Angus cattle is the heart of our cattle breeding operation.  We also specialize in background feeding for our calf crop after weaning, as well as for other local farmers. Feeder calves are pasture raised, and grain finished before sent off for processing. If you have a calf crop that you are interested in finishing on grain but do not have the facilities, contact us today!

Scottish Highland Cattle

The farm is also home to a small fold of midsize Scottish Highland cattle managed by Alison. Friendly and adorable, this breed of cattle is a favorite among many! Though Scottish Highlands were originally a standard size cow, after cross breeding with other small framed cattle breeds over the years, the Scottish Highlands are now primarily known as “mini” cows. It’s important to know what size a breeder strives for within their breeding program when purchasing a Scottish Highland. The slow growth rate of Highlands is often misleading and new owners often find themselves with an animal that weighs upwards of 1000lbs. Scottish Highlands typically reach maturity at 3 years old. While it is impossible for a breeder to guarantee the mature height of a calf, they should be able to give you an accurate estimate. If you are interested in purchasing a Scottish Highland or learning more, contact us today!

We also offer hay for horses

From a young age Doug was frequently in the hay fields-whether he was riding in the tractor while mowing hay with his grandfather or hand stacking bales in the barn, he has always been involved in the process.

With this long time passion, his expertise can be see in the hay he produces and sells in Virginia and along the East Coast.

He grows several types of hay which can also be blended together for the perfect hay for your horse's needs.
